Death by Overstay

We have month upon month been pleading with the Senate and the Congress to bring the immigration laws into the 21st century. We have privately sent emails to the Senate President Aquilino ( Koko ) Pimentel, we have likewise attempted to reach House of Representatives Speaker Pantaleon (Bebot) Alvarez, we have since
been sending emails to Secretary Vitaliano (Vit) Aguirre of the Department of Justice (DoJ),

Commissioner Jaime Morente of the Bureau of Immigration ( BI ) we also have sent emails to the Presidential Complaints Center ( PACE ) to no less than head of mission Assistant Secretary Jaime L. Mabilin we have communicated with Atty. Perla Y. Duque of the Department of Justice Action Center ( DOJAC ) we recently elevated our complaints to the level of the cabinet secretary, with copy furnished to Executive Secretary Salvador (Bingbong) Medialdea, Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher ( Bong ) Go and Presidential Chief Counsel Atty. Salvador (Sal) Panelo all no avail.

We have requested the intervention of Chairman Chito Gascon

of the Commission on Human Rights ( CHR ), as a matter of fact a team from the CHR-NCR was present at the detention facility yesterday. What was achieved, to say a word in a language Chairman Gascon would be familiar with, NADA

We have sent emails and published on this forum and our Facebook account the need for embassies and diplomatic missions to pay attention to the needs of their nationals in detention at the Bureau of Immigration detention center.

Alas, again to no avail…..

This morning at approximately 0500h detainees woke to a detainee who had committed suicide. His sins against humanity was he simply overstayed his visa, a quiet humble man who was a hard worker, a human being committed suicide by hanging himself in the bathroom on the second floor of building A, WPU Camp Bagong Diwa Bicutan Metro Manila. Only out of respect for his Filipino loved ones have we removed the photo of his hanging corpse from this post.

Another life lost in the seemingly endless battle to get the Immigration #DraconianLaws addressed by the 17th Congress and the Duterte administration.
